Meringues are the base to a pavlova cake, popular in Australia and New Zealand. A perfect meringue is crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. It is very light and is often topped with whipped cream and fruits. Baking a meringue takes at the very least a couple of hours; starting with the whisking all the way up to baking it at the right temperature and then waiting for it to cool down so you can finally bite into it. However, thank you microwave, you can have a meringue in under five minutes (depending on how much you struggle with the dough). The actual baking in the microwave takes just one minute, any more and you’ll ruin your meringue. Watch to see how it’s done!
