When you’re at the beach, the one thing you definitely want to enjoy is a moonlight walk with someone special, great seafood and a way to just relax and enjoy yourself. It’s a drive out of the city, but still a drive that is totally worth it. With the wind in your hair and the sun on your skin, driving up to Mahabalipuram is a treat. Sure, it’s a little too hot to be enjoying the beach right now, but it’s still a place you must visit at least once in your life. And the weekend is almost here, so that’s where you can go without a hitch!
But just in case you’re still interested in going to the beach and enjoying the full Mahabalipuram experience, here are some places you can definitely visit and get your fill of good South Indian food.
A trip to Mahabalipuram is incomplete without a visit to Moonrakers. The restaurant has been around for years and thanks to the popularity and constant visitors, they’ve been able to spread out a little more and even add a second restaurant in the area. It’s one of the best seafood restaurants in Mahabalipuram and nothing will ever compare, no matter what.
You what helps beat the heat better than a dip in the pool? A cold drink while you watch the sea and eat delicious and well-prepared seafood. The restaurant at Grande Bay Resort has a wide range of cuisines to choose from and no matter what mood you’re in, there’s a special treat in there for everyone.
As the name would suggest, it’s a great place to sit back and relax. Whether you’re enjoying breakfast or something a little more delicious, you can do it with the view of the sea to comfort you. Their North Indian and Seafood spreads are to die for and you can’t find this anywhere else.
The Wharf – Radisson BLU Temple Bay
When in Mahabalipuram, the one famous place that everyone must visit is obviously The Wharf. Raddison Blu’s beach side restaurant not only has one of the best views, but is also a great spot for a romantic getaway. Enjoy seafood made in so many different ways as you want, because they do it all.
Waters Edge Cafe – Radisson BLU Temple Bay
While this restaurant is not on the beach, it’s still part of the resort and has a great view of the meandering pool that snakes through the center of the resort. They’ve got great breakfasts that will fill your tummies and make you very happy and of course lunch and dinner as well!
The Melting Pot: Market Cafe
Also in Mahabalipuram is the InterContinental Chennai and their all-day diner may not have a killer view, but they’ve got great food! It’s the perfect place to sit back and relax before you get started on your day.
Tao of Peng
Located at the InterContinental Chennai, this Pan-Asian restaurant is a one of a kind along the stretch. The decor is beautiful and the food even more so, so all you have to do is let the restaurant take care of you from the moment you set foot inside.
Bob Marley Cafe
If the name is not enticing enough, then we’re not entirely sure what could make you more excited for the fact that this beachside cafe has pretty much everything you could ever want. You can catch the rays while you sit outside, sipping on cold beer and eating great seafood. Need we say more?
A2B – Adyar Ananda Bhavan
A Chennai staple, A2B is a great restaurant for everything South Indian. Whether you’re eating sweets or South Indian food, there’s a delicious treat waiting for everyone. And even better, in a stretch of area that caters to mostly seafood lovers, A2B sticks true to their vegetarian dishes.
The name is tempting, isn’t it? Sitting by the beach as the sun rises and you get to treat yourself to a delicious continental meal that is filled with or without seafood. It’s the kind of treat that all of us are looking for when we visit Mahabalipuram and this restaurant has just that.
