According to a little birdie in New York, it’s been a while since New Yorkers haven’t placed a phone-call delivery order in ages thanks to services like Seamless, UberEATS, and now Fastbite.
Today, Food-dispatch service Caviar launched its Fastbite delivery feature. They promise Manhattanites a quality meal dropped off in 15 minutes for less than $15.
Anyone in the borough can order online or via the Caviar Android or iOS app during lunch hours. What’s more is that you can use GPS to track the status of your food and the courier delicately transporting it through the city.
Customers have an option to choose from more than 100 local restaurants like Katz’s, Nom Wah Tea Parlor, Frankies 570 Spuntino, and Mighty Quinn’s.
Also available in parts of San Francisco, Caviar plans to expand the feature to more neighborhoods soon.
“With Fastbite anyone can now get an amazing meal delivered during peak hours without waiting in line, paying surge delivery fees, or succumbing to the vending machine at the end of the hall,” Fastbite CEO Avlok Kohli said in a statement. “From Frankie’s house-made cavatelli pasta, to Ivan Ramen’s popular Hiyashi Chuka ramen bowl, no busy New Yorker will miss a meal again.”
The restaurant delivery service was recently acquired by Caviar, which was purchased by Square last fall.
Founded in 2012, Caviar provides services across the country, in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Miami, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Seattle, Portland, and Washington, D.C.
But the company runs a little differently from its rivals: Unlike Seamless, participating restaurants don’t need their own delivery mechanism; Caviar takes care of everything. With the success of Caviar—and the failure of Square Order—Square in March pulled the plug on its food and drink pre-ordering app, launched in 2014 and available only in San Francisco and New York City.
