Are you a chocolate lover? What are we asking; of course you are. So, we have some exciting news for you; a new study has found a link between eating chocolate and a healthier heart. However, this is more relevant to men than women.

What The Study Found

The study followed 55,000 Danish men and women over a period of 15.5 years. They found that participants who ate one to three serving of chocolate a month had a 10% lower Arterial fibrillation rate than those who at a one ounce serving less than once a month.

Arterial fibrillation is an irregular heartbeat, which can lead to blood clots, strokes and heart failure.

“Even small amounts of cocoa consumption can have a positive health impact,” lead author of the study, Elizabeth Mostofsky, a postdoctoral fellow at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, said in a news release.

“Eating excessive amounts of chocolate is not recommended, however, because many chocolate products are high in calories from sugar and fat and could lead to weight gain and other metabolic problems. But moderate intake of chocolate with high cocoa content may be a healthy choice,” she added.
