Nestle India Launches Fortified Maggi Noodles For The Anaemic

on

Anaemia, or anemia, is a serious and fairly common health issue and to make sure that people suffering from the ailment do not miss out on their favourite instant noodles, Nestlé India launched iron fortified Maggi noodles today. The new variant is high in iron content and is aimed at aiding the health of anaemic people.

According to a statement released by the company, Nestlé said that it has ventured into the iron fortification space in India adding, “Nestlé India is exploring ways to fortify its mass consumption products to close the gap and contribute to the larger national objective.”

The new product has been launched under Nestlé India’s “Simply Good” initiative, which aims at providing a happier and healthier lifestyle for all its consumers. Moreover, the company is moving towards transforming the Maggi range globally by 2020, removing ingredients that consumers do not easily recognize and adding more of those that they do, including vegetables and original flavours from vegetables, herbs and spices, grains and other nutrient-rich ingredients, in addition to reducing the sodium content and increasing micro nutrient fortification reports Food Ingredients First.

Going by the 2015-16 National Family Health Survey, 53 per cent females and 22.7 per cent male between 15 and 45 years age group suffer from iron deficiency with an almost equal split across rural and urban India.

Nestlé India Chairman & Managing Director Suresh Narayanan said: “At the forefront of this drive is the commitment to reshape Maggi brand’s products to emphasize the use of familiar and common ingredients that people know and use for home cooking, from their own kitchen cupboard.”
