Caramel, the all-day dining restaurant at Kohinoor Asiana Hotel will be hosting a Chennai street food festival for all the foodies out there. Discover the unique ambience of Chennai city filled with pleasant buzz of merchants and witness a twist of taste with flavors of Chennai.
We were at the festival today and were definitely mind-blown. Cutouts of Tamil cinema icons, a Central station archway, a MTC bus photo booth and even an auto selfie corner. Inside the restaurant, the staff were dressed in veshti-chatta and even a tea-kadai had been set up in one corner.
Coming to the food, the buffet has just about everything Chennai. They’ve got live koththu parota stations and dosa stations on various days. As for the main buffet; legendary non-vegetarian delicacies like payaa, kozhi urulai kuzhambu, chicken 65, mutton biriyani and venjaram fry stood on one side; while on the other, poricha kootu, dal tadka, birinji saadam, thakaali saadam and vada curry. They’d roped in some local snacks like paruppu vada and onion samosa too.
The salad bar has some unique offerings too- the beef lentil salad and the chicken mango salad were quite dashing!
Wrapping it up in style, they have a huge dessert offering. Ladoo, jaangri, mysore pak and adhirasam, vathalappam, Swiss rolls, black forest and chocolate truffle squares too.
The buffet is on from 15th February to 27th February 2016 for lunch (Rs 900 + tax) and dinner (Rs 950 plus tax).
