Mumbai Citizens Offer Food And Shelter To Those Stranded Due To The Floods

With the news of heavy rains flooding on social media on Tuesday came helping hands of Mumbai citizens too. They reached out heavily through social media offering food and shelter to those stranded far away from home due to the floods.

The impact was the strongest on Twitter where a hashtag #RainHosts began trending as hundreds came forward to offer support to fellow citizens.

The tweets were even compiled into a spreadsheet so that it would make it easier to find the nearest help.

The unstoppable city and the extended help of the citizens received an applause from the Mumbai Police.

The rains in Mumbai have been extremely heavy, possibly the worse since the infamous 26 July 2005 rains. The weather is expected to stay the same over the next 48 hours and for that reason, National Disaster Response Force teams are on stand-by for worst-case flooding. The citizens are being requested to not step out until extremely necessary as there are traffic jams, stalled local train service due to flooding in the tracks.
