What if you could taste chocolate for a living? Hayleigh Curtis does just that  – each morning she wakes up and heads to Bournville, the home of Cadbury where she’s a part of the Cadbury Innovation Team.

If that wasn’t enough to make you green with envy, here’s the ultimate kicker – Curtis just insured her taste buds for £1 million – that’s about Rs. 88749485.

A First Of Its Kind Policy

Curtis’ taste buds were insured by Lloyds of London for a million pounds; the company says that her taste buds are essential to deciding whether any new product meets Cadbury’s high standards.

As part of the policy, Curtis has to take care not to eat Fugu fish (a poisonous variety of fish), avoid sword swallowing and eating chili peppers with a Scoville rating of a greater than 350,000 spice level.

Should Curtis consume any of these items, her insurance will become void.

Jonathan Thomas from Lloyds said: “We’ve insured some interesting assets over the years, and this certainly adds to the mix.” He added “taste buds are as important to Cadbury as legs are to a top footballer and it seems like Hayleigh has been doing a great job creating new flavours with the team.

The Cadbury Innovation Team

Curtis is a part of the 300 strong Innovation Team in Cadbury’s Birmingham innovation kitchen, the team which is responsible for creating, testing and tasting any chocolate products which Mondelez International launches across the world.

Curtis commented to the Mirror, “This is a really exciting day for me. I’ve grown up with Cadbury and it has always played a really important role in my life, so it’s great to be part of a team that sit at the global headquarters for chocolate invention at Mondelēz International.”

Curtis has been part of the team which have created products like Cadbury Dairy Milk Bubbly and Marvellous.
