Everyone remembers the Spork and the excitement it caused when it first launched onto the food scene. A spoon and a fork combined in one utensil, allowing you to poke your food and scoop up some all at the same time. It was a miracle and it became the best thing since sliced bread. No seriously. But forget about the spork for a minute, because there’s something even better.
Meet the Chork.
If you love Chinese food, but you only ever get chopsticks when you get takeout, then the chork is for you. Not everyone knows how to use chopsticks and that’s okay, but what is not okay is struggling to eat your meal when there is no other option. Panda Express, in the US, has introduced this wonderful creation into the mainstream. Apparently the Chork, like the Spork, has been around for centuries, but it’s just now that we’re hearing about it. And all thanks to Panda Express.
Panda Express is a chain of restaurants in America that serves what they call American-Chinese food and are famous for its vibrant orange chicken. Earlier this year, there was even talk of Panda Express opening outlets around India, but so far, nothing has come through. While introducing their newest menu item, General Tso, the chain also launched the introduction of the chork with their take out boxes.
In a press release announcing this new addition, they also said: “Furthermore, Chorks were introduced to the public during the launch of the dish. The tool is a perfect way to illustrate the mashup of American and Chinese cultures — just like Panda Express. Chorks, like the new dish, are a unique utensil that elevate the way people experience their food. While Chorks are not currently available at Panda Express locations, there is a possibility that they will make their way into stores in the future.”
