McDonald’s Outlets May Become Pokestops or Gyms In Pokémon Go

on

Pokemon Go has exploded all over the world (even in countries where its technically not downloadable yet), and you can be sure Ninatic, its creator is already reaping benefits. Not only has the game descended the world into some sort of Pokémon frenzy – the likes of which have not been seen since the concept was first launched in the 90s – but commercial spaces have been found to be buying lures to attract Pokémons and thereby footfall.

Restaurants, for instance are buying in-game lures which will attract Pokémons, who are soon followed by players. They’re also having special offers to entice Pokémon Go players.

Other players have found a McDonald’s logo in the game’s image assets.

What’s It Mean?

What does this point to? The idea that players will be directed to McDonald’s outlets either to find Pokémons or to train them.

Gizmodo recently reported that a “well-placed source” confirmed the connection between Pokémon Go and McDonald’s; this source told the website that in a certain Asian country, all McDonalds’s outlets will soon become either gyms or Pokestops. Many are speculating that this country will be Japan, the original birthplace of Pokémon.
