Lays’ ‘Do Us A Flavor’ Finalists Are Too Good To Be True!

There are good food mashups and then there are mashups that never should have seen the light of day (yes, we’re looking at you avolatte). Moreover, good or bad, there is always a consistent onslaught of new trends and ideas in the food and beverage space. And hey, we’re not complaining! But it’s safe to say that some trends have been, well, less than genius. But you know what’s not less than genius? Lays’ “Do Us A Flavor” competition.

For the uninitiated, the ‘Do Us A Flavor’ competition is an annual contest held by potato chips magnate Lay’s, wherein participants get to pitch in their flavour ideas to the company. The top most unique and innovative flavours get a cash prize and the best three are actually released in the market for a limited period. This year too Lay’s got quite an amazing response from fans and alas the winners have been announced!

According to a press release, this year’s finalists are: Everything Bagel with Cream Cheese, Crispy Taco, and Fried Green Tomato Chips.

That’s right, there will now bagel, taco, and green tomato (no idea what that tastes like, by the way) flavoured potato chips being produced in the Lay’s factory! The winning variants will be available in the market July 24th and October 8th, and we just cannot wait to find out how they taste!

In the past winning flavours included Lay’s Cheesy Garlic Bread (2013), Lay’s Kettle Cooked Wasabi Ginger flavour (2014), and Lay’s Southern Biscuits and Gravy flavour (2015).
