We were recently invited for the book launch of ‘Lassis Of India’ by Mrs. Radha Bhatia at The Roseate House, New Delhi. Honestly, we had never imagined that Lassi could be prepared in more than two or three ways but the fact that this book has over 74 different recipes for preparing Lassi took us by surprise! We also got to try some of those recipes first-hand. Peda Lassi, Jalebi Lassi and Rose Lassi were the dessert lassis and some of the other included Kashmiri Lassi, Fermented Black Garlic Lassi, Green Peppercorn Lassi, Vaghareli Chach and a few more.
While talking about the book, Mrs. Bhatia said, “The idea of writing a book on lassis occurred to me when I realised that in today’s fast-paced and hectic life, a healthy lifestyle and eating habits was a universal concern. Almost everything available for ready consumption today is processed, full of artificial flavours, colours and preservatives.”
“And our age-old elixirs like lassi have been almost relegated into obscurity. These tasty and healthy beverages, consumed over centuries in many different avatars across various parts of the country, are natural and full of ingredients with tremendous health benefits,” she added.
Lassis of India: Smoothies With a Twist is not a book of ordinary recipes. With a touch of freshness and diversity, it is every beverage junkie’s delight, for experimental enthusiasts and those looking to recreate family favourites, ‘Lassis of India’ offers 74 mouthwatering combinations in regional varieties and modern-day variations. With a mélange of flavours, unique spice blends and mixtures, go right ahead and whip up a storm in a glass for your dear ones.
