Here’s Why Mumbai Should Enroll for Cooking Classes At Flavour Diaries, A Brand New Cooking Studio!

on

“Some people like to paint pictures, or do gardening, or build a boat in the basement. Other people get a tremendous pleasure out of the kitchen, because cooking is just as creative and imaginative an activity as drawing, or wood carving, or music,” said the late Julia Child, a woman chiefly responsible for bringing a love of French cuisine to America. Today, many cooks are embracing the idea that cooking is creative and imaginative and doing away with precise, restrictive approaches to cooking in terms of recipes, quantities, ingredients and methods, choosing to operate instead on instinct and passion.

That’s precisely the approach that Mumbai’s newest cooking studio, Flavour Diaries, nestled above the new Khar Social, adopts. Spearheaded by Anjali Pathak, the studio aims to become a space for international food experiences; “An interactive and intimate space to indulge in new flavours… to smell, to taste, to savour, to explore and to delight… in luxurious style.”

FlavourDiaries
Pathak aims, through her cooking classes and experiences, to bring international flavours into Indian kitchens. Having grown up in a family full of food-lovers, Pathak studied at the Leiths School of Food & Wine in London. She holds a diploma in nutrition, a distinction in wine from the Wine & Spirit Education Trust and has authored cookbooks including ‘Secrets from my Indian Family Kitchen.’ She sees food as a fun and engaging experience; an attitude she will infuse in her cookery classes at Flavour Diaries.

Sushi
Students at Flavour Diaries can choose from a range of cuisines to learn about, from learning how to make Italian risotto to Mexican tacos and dips to Lebanese Mezze. Students will enjoy an expansive kitchen space designed and executed by the Franke Group, a dining area to enjoy the fare they whip up as well as access to a large collection of culinary books from across the world.

FlavourDiaries
From November 16th, each Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday evening the studio will be open for visitors to enjoy English tea, scones and a tour of the Flavour Diaries space. Visitors will also be able to meet and talk with Pathak during this experience.
