Here’s What Chris Hemsworth & His Body Double Eat To Look Like Thor

on

It’s not big having a body double in the movie industry, especially if your role demands stunts and actions that cannot possibly be carried out by one human being. But what’s really difficult is for both the original and the double to look alike and look the part. Something on-screen superhero (a.k.a., God), Chris Hemsworth, and his godly double Bobby Holland Hanton know all too well. Especially the latter, who has to work doubly hard to maintain his god-like (and Hemsworth-like) physique.

In a recent interview, 34-year-old Hanton said that filming Thor has been one of the toughest part of being Chris Hemsworth’s stand-in. he major reason behind this being the Australian actor’s huge physique. “Chris is already huge, he’s much bigger than me naturally so I have to train twice a day. It’s a job in itself.”

This inevitably means that Hanton has to pack extra muscle to live up to Hemsworth’s portrayal of Thor and that translates to training like a beast eating like one too. To manage this, both Hanton and Hemsworth down eight massive meals in a single day. Yep, eight meals. That’s one more than Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, who reportedly eats seven meals in a day.

“We might train first thing in the morning and the last thing at night,” Hanton said. “We try and eat every two-and-a-half hours. For breakfast, we might have something like scrambled eggs with steak and spinach. No carbs in the morning. Then two hours later we might have a chicken breast and salad. After our first training session, we’d introduce the carbs, usually brown rice, sweet potato or quinoa and then we’d continue to eat carbs up until the last meal. It’s pretty intense”, revealed Hanton, who has been Hemsworth’s body double for five years now, adding that the last 18 months have been the toughest so far given back-to-back release of Thor and Avenger movies.

“I’ve done a few Thor and Avengers movies now and generally it would be over a six-month period. But just recently we did Ragnarok straight into Avengers 3 and Avengers 4, so it was staying in Thor shape for the best part of a year-and-a-half and that was the biggest challenge to date so far,” he said.

Well, now you know where Thor gets his strength. After all, it’s not easy walking around as an Asgard God!
