The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), has been taking several steps to ensure that train travelers have aces to high quality food. In its latest move, it has proposed to start six fast food units in and around Nagpur.
Fast Food and Food Plazas
The IRCTC will set aside 150 square feet of land where private licensees can set up fast food units. “These units will be set up at Ajni, Ballarshah, Wardha, Dhamangaon, Chandrapur and Sevagram railway stations,” said Ahad Siddiqui, area manager (catering services), IRCTC.
Additionally, the IRCTC is looking at setting up new kitchens in and around Nagpur stations.
In the past, the IRCTC has tied up with women’s self-help groups to bring travelers home cooked foods and with Domino’s to bring pizza delivery to trains.
