Here’s A Look At Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Sanju’ Diet

on

Only in its first week at the Box office, Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Sanju is already breaking collection records. The movie, which is based on the greatest highs and the darkest lows of actor Sanjay Dutt’s life, hit theaters this Friday and has been subjected to rave reviews form the audience and critics. The one aspect that has got everyone rooting for the movie is the uncanny resemblance between real life Sanju Baba and his on-screen version, played by Kapoor and directed by Rajkumar Hirani. And those bulky shoulders and broad chest on Ranbir are not VFX because the actor put in months of hard work to get the look. Here’s how he did it.

Ranbir, who plays six avatars of Dutt in the movie, had to work especially hard to play the part of a young Sanjay Dutt, who was known for his buff form in the 80s. “I can look like the Sanjay Dutt who comes out of jail or the guy who was doing Munna Bhai, at the same time looking like a young Sanjay in Rocky. That was easy because that’s how I look,” Ranbir said at the movie’s teaser launch.

Lean To Bulky

In his regular form is not very muscular, and that was a challenge because back when Sanjay Dutt was a young muscular hunk, he sported more of a buff form than a ripped one. To keep up with that, Kapoor had to put on quite a lot of muscle and he shot up from a lean 75 kg to a bulky 85 kg within 6-8 months, and guiding him through this journey was his trainer, Kunal Gir.

Gir revealed that the actor spent not more than an hour in the gym. As for food, Kapoor, who is not used to eating a lot of food in one go, was eating about 8-10 meals in the form of solid food and shakes throughout the day. That said, the Jagga Jasoos actor was not on any stringent meal plan and simply included plenty of carbohydrates, vegetables, and protein in his diet. This, in general, is a great way of keeping your food consumption under check without going through the monotony of repeating meals.

So, dedication in the gym and consistency in the kitchen is what completely transformed a tall and lean Ranbir Kapoor into the Rocky-like Sanjay Dutt in Sanju. What do you think about the actor’s dramatic transformation? Let us known in the comments below!
