Heinz Baby Food & Mott’s Fruit Rockets Face Recall Orders Over Health Concerns

on

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is recalling a children’s snack and a baby food product over concerns that broken seals could lead to spoilage. “Could” lead to spoilage? More often than not that is exactly why seals are attached on packages.

Reason for Recall

The recall was triggered after a consumer complaint. The agency is now conducting a full investigation. The recall includes re-sealable squeeze pouches of Heinz “apple, broccoli, pea & brown rice” baby food, as well as Mott’s Fruitsations Fruit Rockets in the “Apple Strawberry Fruit Blend” flavour.20150807a_1439001124074_eng

The affected Heinz product is 128 millilitres and bears the UPC code “0 57000 02990 6,” while the Mott’s product is 90 milliletres and has the UPC code “0 65912 00019 7” when sold individually and “0 65912 00020 0” when sold in boxes of four.mott-s-fruitsations-fruit-rockets-unsweetened-strawberry

Consumer Alerts

The agency warns consumers not to eat the products over concerns that they may have spoiled.

If the food has been served to an infant or child, the CFIA recommends that parents monitor for signs of illness. Symptoms may cause upset stomach, vomiting and diarrhea.

There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of the products, the agency said.
