Head To The Square For Italiano Wednesdays & Feast On A Lavish Spread
Italian food is best known for its simplicity, and rustic nature. It’s all about taking a few ingredients and really making them shine (as they say in Masterchef) and that’s exactly what Chef Jaideep has accomplished with the weekly Italiano Wednesdays at The Square.
We kicked dinner off with a glass of red wine and antipasto in the form of freshly baked focaccia, and two different types of bruschetta. The Chicken and Duck Pate Bruschetta with Figs was certainly one of our favorites with the gorgeous sweetness of the figs permeating the earthy texture of the pate. The Mushroom Bruschetta with garlic butter was an absolute hit as well – I mean you can’t go wrong with the basics.
Next, we had a gorgeously light, chicken tortellini soup with an almost consommé-like consistency that was garnished with some microgreens that added a bit of crunch and bitterness to the soup. For our next course, we feasted on some seared scallops, served with a bit of pancetta, charred corn, and a cauliflower mash.
Don’t forget to take full advantage of the live food counters where their experienced chefs will grill up some delicious stuffed pork belly or whip up a delightful risotto. The gnocchi was a big hit with the creaminess of the gorgonzola contrasting nicely with the tart of the cherry tomatoes and the sharpness of the parmesan.
If you’re a fan of lamb you’ll absolutely enjoy the beautifully frenched lamb chops cooked to a tender medium, served up with some sweet bell peppers. For dessert, we gorged on cannoli made with a tuile-like casing instead of the regular cannoli pastry, and some decadent dark chocolate rum cake.
Italiano Wednesdays end this June, so you better hustle to get a glimpse of Tuscan cuisine, but Chef Jaideep assures us that they’ve got some pretty ambitious menus in store for the World Cup as well some super exciting pop-ups in the future so make sure you’re not square this year!
