Gulab Jamuns and Rasgullas are distant cousins. Not very distant, but distant. Both are juicy dumplings doused in sinfully sweet but delicious treacle; both are popular North Indian dessert items; and the last piece of both these mithais can start some serious feuds. But what sets them massively apart is the way they are prepared, the way they taste, and their places of origin, to name a few. Basically, everything apart from their appearance.
