You Could Go To Jail In Italy For Putting Your Kid On A Vegan Diet!

on

While non-Vegans scream “thank you!” and pro-vegans mouth a bunch of asterisks, allow me to explain what’s going on in the world of diets. The Italian Government is apparently not too happy with veganism. They have put under consideration a bill, which states that parents who put their kids on a vegan diet will face serious charges if their kid falls ill.

No, it’s not a joke. Here, have a look at the legislative bill (if you know how to read Italian, that is).

In case you don’t understand the hype, here’s a little info bite: The vegan diet completely eliminates the consumption of animal and animal-based products including honey, dairy, etc. (Know more about the vegan diet here.) Basically, it is as humane and harmless as human existence can get. But certain Big Guys in Italy think otherwise.Featured image veganer review

What Even?

Right-wing Forza Italia Party member, Elvira Savino, proposed this groundbreaking decision. The bill further deems the diet “reckless” and lacking essential nutrients like calcium, iron and vitamin D, which children need.

This anti-vegan bill has been further fuelled by recent reports in Italy that speak of kids becoming malnourished and even hospitalized because of following the vegan diet.Children Healthy

Anti Anti-Vegan

Of course, there have been anti-anti-vegan bills as well that totally trash Savino’s proposal. These bills have been brought up to promote the vegan and vegetarian diets. Even health advocates have suggested that a balanced vegan (or vegetarian) diet is healthy for people of all ages, even the young ones!

In 2009, the American Dietetic Association even released a statement saying:

“It is the position of the American Dietetic Association that appropriately planned vegetarian diets, including total vegetarian or vegan diets, are healthful, nutritionally adequate, and may provide health benefits in the prevention and treatment of certain diseases. Well-planned vegetarian diets are appropriate for individuals during all stages of the lifecycle, including pregnancy, lactation, infancy, childhood, and adolescence, and for athletes.”

Now, it’s a complete different story if the right-wing doesn’t want kids to miss out on some meaty Bolognese.

In other news, a recent report suggests that almost 100% of the people, who breathe Oxygen, die.
