You Could Get A Free Whopper From Burger King, There’s Only One Catch!

on

Just got fired and feeling down? Well, Burger King is here to make your day less bleak. Burger King will give you a free Whopper for all of you chaps suffering the consequences of the economy. However, there is a catch. In order to claim your burger, you have to publicly own up to the fact that you got fired and post the following message on LinkedIn: “I got fired. I want a free Whopper. #WhopperSeverance.”

If you’re planning on keeping your lack of a job from your parents or would rather avoid unnecessary stunting on social media, this may not be the promotion for you. We will say though, that’s it’s the end of two consecutive 31 day months, and hey, a girl’s gotta eat.

Through the promotion, Burger King will give away up to 2,500 free Whoppers between now and Sept. 1. After you post, The King himself leaves a comment with a link to register for your severance package via mail. Then, you can eat and go back to job hunting (I mean, one Whopper isn’t going to keep you full forever).

The first 100 entrants to post on LinkedIn are also eligible for a 30-minute coaching session with a career consultant from The Muse, a career planning and job search site.

If you don’t happen to get fired this week, there’s no harm in posting (other than potentially confusing your boss). The light-hearted campaign isn’t taking itself so seriously. Of the posts already on LinkedIn, some are describing times they got fired years ago, so if you’re seriously broke consider updating your LinkedIn status. Just make sure your boss is in on the joke!
