Game Of Thrones Tears Of Lys Recipe

on

Game of Thrones will be back on your screens this month and fans are buzzing with theories and ideas about what may happen. HBO has been releasing trailers that have got fans even more revved up; where was Ghost all this time? What is Davos Seaworth about to fight? What is Melisandre upto?

A Game Of Thrones Speculation Session

Why not gather your friends together for a Game of Thrones themed party this weekend, where you can speculate about what the teasers really mean to your hearts’ delight? At the party you can serve Sansa Stark’s lemon cakes and mulled wine. To add to your Game Of Thrones recipe repertoire, we’re sharing another recipe, inspired by the Game of Thrones Unofficial Cookbook; Tears of Lys.

Tears Of Lys: The Significance

“The tears of Lys, they call it. A rare and costly thing, clear and sweet as water, and it leaves no trace. I begged Lord Arryn to use a taster, in this very room I begged him, but he would not hear of it. Only one who was less than a man would even think of such a thing, he told me.”

Varys to Eddard Stark (Season 1)

A Game of Thrones fan could argue that the Tears of Lys are what set all the events of the series in motion. It’s a rare poison that causes sickness in the bowels that is almost impossible to detect.

Jon Arryn, the Hand before Eddard Stark was killed using the tears of Lys, making Stark leave Wintefell and join King Robert Barratheon as his Hand. Sansa Stark later learns that Lysa Tully, Arryn’s wife was the one who poisoned her husband; another major plot point.

The Tears of Lys, therefore, have an immense significance and should feature in a Game of Thrones themed gathering. However, since we’re pretty sure you don’t want to poison your friends, the Tears of Lys recipe we’re sharing is not lethal, but is pretty darn potent.

Serve it at a cocktail party, a dinner party, a brunch; it works pretty much all the time.
