Feast On Modaks While Travelling By Tejas Express During Ganesh Mahotsav

on

The Indian Railway Catering and Transport Corporation (IRCTC) has planned to distribute Ukadiche Modak amongst all the passengers travelling by Tejas Express during Ganesh Mahotsav. These sweet treats are popular in Maharashtra and are also used for Bhog (offering) to Lord Ganesha during the festival.

Reason behind this generosity isn’t only the festive spirit but is also an additional effort to pull up the dwindling number of commuters. After it’s launch on May 21, Tejas Express had been quite popular and during the Ganesh Mahotsav the railways are expecting people to travel and they want to distribute modaks to add an attraction to potential travellers.

This tried and tested ‘modak distribution’ has worked positively last year when Mumbai Rajdhani passengers were given this traditional treat during the Ganesh festival. “We have also served passengers pedas, jalebis and other sweets during festivals. They have told us that they appreciate this,” an IRCTC spokesperson told Hindustan Times.
