Energy Drinks May Be A Gateway To Cocaine Addiction

on

Are you one of those people who can’t go through the day without a can of Red Bull? If you are, you may want to read this (or not, it’s your life). We’ve already heard multiple about how bad energy drinks are for our body, but that hasn’t stopped us from ordering that Vodka Red Bull at the club.

The most worrying part about energy drinks is that they’re so bloody addictive. We all know we could guzzle down at least 10 cans of any given energy drink if we could afford it. In fact, energy drinks are so addicting that they could actually lead to a cocaine addiction. That’s some serious stuff.

Researchers found that 21- to 25-year-olds who drank a large amount of sugar- and caffeine-filled products were significantly more likely to become addicted to cocaine. These participants were also at a greater risk of alcohol abuse and using amphetamines and other stimulants within five years. That’s a pretty frightening statistic.

So, perhaps next time you’re tempted to grab a can of Red Bull for a bit of a pick me up you’ll think twice and settle for a coffee instead. You know what they say about the lesser of the two evils!
