Embark Upon A Gastromomic Journery To New York At ‘It Happened In New York’, Bandra

on

New York is known for it’s range of food and beverage options. And now, the aromas of New York’s five boroughs come to life in the heart of Bandra at a new modern American diner – It happened in New York. Was the name inspired by the movie, we wonder!

Launched by passionate foodies Manashwi and Aastha Gupta, It happened in New York (ITINY) spans 2,700 sq ft of space, spread over three floors where you can either mingle with other diners at a community table, sit amidst chic decor in a warm ambience, or enjoy al fresco dining at a plant-and-flower lined terrace.

Chow Down At ITINY

The restaurant’s menu has been designed by Executive Chef Sanyo Vaz, in close consultation with Kartikeya Ratan (Keya) who has drawn on her hands-on experience in the Big Apple to help create a menu that serves dishes that are ITINY’s homage to the City of Dreams. However, there’s an interesting twist – most of the ingredients are seasonal, with an emphasis on locally-sourced produce which has resulted in a menu that draws from farms across India, which shine through in dishes that are inspired by the five boroughs of New York.

ITINY

The menu features a plethora of drool-inducing dishes such as the Moringa & Caramel popcorn, Truffle & Rosemary popcorn, Furikake & Bonito Butter popcorn, Pulled Cumin Jackfruit tacos, and Stuffed Jalapeno tacos. The other dishes on the menu include Chicken Spwings, spicy chicken wings inspired by Mission Chinese, a favoured Sichuan eatery on New York’s Lower East Side; Corn Dogs, and cheese and charcuterie platters.

They also have a Clean Food section for their health-conscious diners. The Grain Story is an all-grain bowl served with curried cauliflower couscous, charred fennel salad, seared Brussels sprouts, roasted kale chips and pesto bocconchini. Other options include Buckwheat Pancakes, Ethiopian-style pancakes served with beetroot and carrot slaw, and charred romaine; Sweet Potato Salad, ITINY’s take on the famous Waldorf Salad; and Avocado on Toast, creamed avocado on rye toast with pickled baby radish.

Mixed With Love From New York

cocktails

Quench your thirst over a craft cocktail created by mixologist Nitin Tewari. The ITINY bar menu has a strong focus on craft cocktails inspired by the ‘father of American mixology’ himself, New Yorker Jerry Thomas. ITINY’s bar menu has drawn deeply from New York, the city where the cocktail culture was born and from where it blossomed. Divided into eight ‘chapters,’ the bar menu is designed to take guests on a journey through the history of mixed drinks, including everything from ancestrals and sours, to tiki and punch.
