Donald Trump May Or May Not Be Banned From Robert De Niro’s Restaurant, Nobu

on

Donald Trump as the 45th President of the United States is probably one of the most controversial and highly debated political leaders in the history of the world. Though chosen by popular choice, a.k.a. a fair election, the businessman-turned-politician has received – and continues to receive – headlines after tweets of flak. And the latest condemnation for Trump comes in the form of an alleged ban.

The Alleged Ban

According to a Daily Mail report, Robert De Niro, a partial-citizen of the United States (he holds Italian citizenship as well) has debarred the POTUS from ever stepping foot in his restaurant, Nobu. For the uninitiated, De Niro along with partners celebrity chef Nobuyuki ‘Nobu’ Matsuhisa, Meir Teper, Drew Nieporent, and Richie Notar owns the popular international restaurant chain Nobu, which just exercised it’s right to admission. Nobu recently revealed its latest outlet in Marbella, and during the event, De Niro said, “I don’t care what he likes. If he walked into a restaurant I was in, I’d walk out.”

De Niro has on multiple occasions in the past been extremely vocal about his stand on Trump, at times even comparing the disaster that was Trump becoming president to the horrific incidents of 9/11. “He’s an idiot. He’s an embarrassment. He talks about how he wants to punch people in the face, well, I’d like to punch him in the face”, the 74-year-old said in a video he released. This video testimony was among the many insults hurled and shots fired by the actor at the Republican during and after the latter’s electoral campaign.

However, in a statement that followed this shocking news, the Taxi Driver actor’s PR team has clarified that De Niro has taken no such step against the President. “Bob has not banned anyone from dining at Nobu,” the spokesperson told The Hollywood Reporter. “I know what they wrote. No one is banned.”

Meanwhile, irrespective of the ban being legit, the White House deputy press secretary Hogan Gidley responded to this news by saying that Trump could just eat at “one of his many properties around the country and globe” instead. Touché.

So, is Trump really banned from eating at any of the Nobu outlets? Probably. We don’t know. Does he care? Clearly not.
