Ditch The Rolls And Try The Sushi Pizza At Shizusan This International Sushi Day

on

International Sushi Day is right around the corner (June 18th, to be exact) and there have been numerous food trends centering around sushi like the sushi donut and sushi pizza but none of them had quite made it to our doorstep yet. So, obviously, we were extremely intrigued to discover that Shizusan would be serving up sushi pizza right here in Namma Ooru!

We started off with the Tuna, Salmon and Jalapeno pizza slice with Crispy Seaweed and kewpie mayo which was definitely our favorite of the lot! We struggled a bit initially with how to tackle the pizza slice and we suggest using silverware to cut the pizza into manageable pieces. The heat from the jalapeno contrasted nicely with the fatty fish and the mayo added a bit of umami to our palate.

Next up was the Prawn and Edamame slice with mango and honey chili sauce, if you’re a fan of a little sweet with your salt then you’ll enjoy this one. The sweetness of the mango acts as a foil for the prawn, add a little wasabi and soy sauce and boom, you’re golden!

The vegetarian option that we’d recommend is the Edamame, Avocado slice with Phili cheese, asparagus, and wasabi mayo. We were pleasantly surprised by the textures of this one, the asparagus added a lovely crunch to the creamy avocado with the wasabi mayo going straight to your head almost instantly.

Don’t forget to pair your sushi slice with some delicious sake cocktails like the Sake-Me-Thy or the Blushing Geisha. The Hattori Hanzo also pairs nicely with the Tuna and Salmon slice – if you’re a tequila lover and like a bit of drama, you’ll love this one. Just remember, the Sushi Pizza is only available from the 16th to the 18th of June, so head to Shizusan to try out this food trend that is just soy awesome!
