Dhaula Kuan Metro Station Kicks Off ‘Palate of Delhi’ For Travellers

Up till now, the only metro stations equipped to provide a proper space to sit and eat to passengers and travellers were Nehru Place-based Epicuria, Rajiv Chowk, the “rumored” food-court in Barakhamba Road, and a few WH Smiths and Coffee Day joints here and there. But joining the league of full-fledge metro station eateries is ‘Palate of Delhi’ (POD), a premium food hub located in Delhi’s Dhaula Kuan metro station.

The brainchild of Jaideep Bhandari, Palate of Delhi provides casual, easy dining options along with plush interiors and stunning artwork that set this food complex apart. Complete with a modern and practical do, the food hub can seat up to 275 people, priding itself with some of Delhi’s favourite eateries and is already being hyped as the next big hangout spot in Delhi. There 14 outlets of popular Indian and international fast food in addition to quick-serving chains, parking for 300 cars in the basement with plans to add more restaurants soon.

Commenting on the launch, Bhandari said, “We are excited to bring a deliciously unique food destination in the market with some of the most loved brands. We aim to provide a relaxed and comfortable quick dining setting to our discerning customer. Delhi is now a ‘foodie’ city and we will strive to satiate it with Palate of Delhi.”

Although the Dhaula Kuan metro station is essentially a stop for the Airport Express Line only, the junction does lie within an accessible periphery of the Army Cantonment, with Delhi University’s South Campus and Diplomat Enclave around the corner. Moreover, the area lacks good eating joints with most of the good ones nestled in side the nearby 5-stars. Also, the Delhi metro’s Yellow Line will soon be linked to this station via a 0.9 km moving walkway (Travelator).

“Dhaula Kuan, Chanakyapuri and Satya Niketan have a large young population but few quality dining options that are affordable,” said Bhandari. “We wanted to provide a dining experience that was a notch above the usual canteen or food court”, he added.
