Daily Delight Supermarket Acquires Agriculture Supply Startup Lemon Leaf

on

Recently grocery supply startup, Lemon Leaf, received angel funding. And now, they’ve been acquired by supermarket chain, Daily Delight, who incidentally were the ‘angel investors’. And in an exclusive conversation with VCCircle, Tushar Gupta and Saurabh Sahani, of Daily Delight said that the company invested an undisclosed amount on the deal.

Daily Delight is a supermarket chain located in three locations in Delhi, Gupta also said that they had constructed six dark stores for PepperTap, which shut down the grocery side of their business earlier this year. For those that don’t know, a ‘dark store’ is a warehouse where the groceries are stores and staff select the products that have been ordered online or via the app of the brand.

As mentioned before, Lemon Leaf is a grocery e-store based in Delhi that supplies customers with fruits and vegetables that are cleaned using ozonated water that is supported by ultrasonic technology. This, they claim, increases the shelf life of vegetables and fruits, making them much more suitable for customers.

Lemon Leaf was started in July last year by Praveen Kumar, Puneet Gulati, Rishubh Khurana and Sankalp Chandok and was looking to raise seed funding while in talks with several agri-focused venture capital firms. While Kumar has exited the firm, Gupta and Sahani are going to take over running Lemon Leaf.
