Cricket Knockout League By The Poona Hoteliers Association Saw Participation From 32 Hotels In Pune

The Poona Hoteliers Association (PHA) recently organized the PHA Premier League from February 25th to 27th, at the M.A Rangoonwala ground in the city. PHA was privileged to be the sole representing body of hoteliers in Pune and proud to have almost every Pune hotel as members of the Association. 32 of the finest and recognized hotels of the city competed to win the title of the cricket league spanning across three action packed days.

The event was graced by the eminent personalities and dignitaries from Pune City as well as of PHA including Mr. Suresh Talera – President of Honour, Mr. Neerav Panchamia – President, Mr. Sharan Shetty – Sr. Vice President, Mr. Avijit Chaturvedi – Vice President, Mr. Vineet Mishra – Hon. Treasurer and General Manager of JW Marriott Pune, Mr. Prantik Ray – Hon. Secretary, Mr. Aditya Malla – Jt. Hon. Secretary, Ms. Prapti Deshpande – Secretary General, Mr. Nasir Shaikh – Sports Committee Chairman and General Manager, The Westin to name a few.

Announcing the league, Mr. Neerav Panchamia, President of PHA said, ‘With great excitement, we flagged-off the 1st edition of the Poona Hoteliers Association Premier League 2019. The idea behind this league was to strengthen bonds and ties between hoteliers in the city via sports. It was a thrilling tournament and we look forward to more sporting events within hotels every year.”

Mr. Sharan Shetty, Sr. Vice President added, “PHAPL united member hotels on a common ground – cricket and through this, we got the fraternity to develop a close bond in Pune.”

Treasurer and General Manager of JW Marriott Pune, shared, “It has been an honor to be associated with the esteemed Poona Hoteliers Association and celebrate the unity of hoteliers in Pune, over these years. PHA’s Premier League aims to bring together the leading hoteliers in the city to showcase their talent at an exhilarating cricket tournament.”

Our efforts always revolve around giving back and through the league as PHA we will engage with Queen Mary’s Technical Institute and see how we can extend our support to their efforts.”

Round One

The Teams first played in Round One which was a knockout round . After that, the winners played in the Pre-Quaterfinal, Quaterfinal followed by Semifinal’s and Finals. Some of the participating hotel teams included Vivanta by Taj Blue Diamond, JW Marriott, The Westin, Fortune Select Dasave, Double Tree by Hilton, Shree Panchratna, The E-Square, Conrad Pune, Royal Orchid Golden Suites, Crown Plaza Pune, Sayaji Hotel, The Gateway by Taj, Radisson Blu Kharadi, Hyatt Regency, Utsav Hotel, The Central Park, Kapila The Business Hotel, The Celebrations, Lavasa, Radisson Blu – Hinjawadi, Courtyard by Marriott-Chakan, Amanora The Fern, DY Patil HMCT, IIHM, Ambrosia Resort & Spa, Fairfield by Marriott,  Fort Jadhavgadh, The Pride Hotel, Lemon Tree, The Corinthians Club, Oakwood Residence, Noorya Hometel & HHI.

Poona Hoteliers Association was formed following the desire of Hoteliers in Pune to unite into a common platform and engage in their common interests in Pune; the Association has thus evolved into a united entity. With over 75+ members in its fold, the Poona Hoteliers Association continues to grow each year. PHA conducts throughout the year, representations on important issues to Government Authorities, and Seminars and Trainings for members.
