Instructions
  1. Melt half a cup of the chocolate chips in a microwave.
  2. Whip the butter and sugar and then add the egg, vanilla and melted chocolate to this mixture.
  3. Whisk well.
  4. Mix the flour, baking powder, salt and baking soda together.
  5. Gently stir the flour mixture into the butter, chocolate and sugar mixture.
  6. Once well combined, place this mixture in a fridge.
  7. Allow the dough to cool for 2 hours.
  8. While the dough cools, preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  9. Dust a flat surface with flour and roll out the dough to 1/4 inch thickness.
  10. Using a heart shaped cookie cutter, cut hearts out of the dough.
  11. Place the heart cookies onto greased paper and bake the cookies for 7-10 minutes.
  12. Take the cookies out and allow them to cool.
  13. Melt the shortening and leftover chocolate chips in a microwave.
  14. Dip half of each cookies into the melted mixture and put them on waxing paper.
  15. Place them in the fridge until the chocolate sets.
  16. Your cookies are ready!
