Celebrity Trainer Yasmin Karachiwala Lets Us In On The Stars’ Fitness Secrets

on

Who better to take fitness tips from someone who has helped celebrities like Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor, and Deepika Padukone look like they do today? In a recent interview, celebrity fitness trainer Yasmin Karachiwala talked about the importance – or actually the triviality – of diets, saying: “I don’t recommend any diet”.

“I don’t like the word diet. I think we all are smart and making smart food choices are a lifestyle change. I only educate my clients on which food is good and we all know that fried, sweet and alcohol is bad so we should avoid them,” Karachiwala told IANS over e-mail.

Karachiwala, who was recently, signed on as the sports and lifestyle brand Skechers, is a renowned name in the health and fitness sector. Karachiwala’s Mumbai-based gym, Body Image, is a well-known name among the tinsel town dwellers and is also the first BASI certified Pilates instructor in India and established the first Pilates studio.

Speaking on the benefits of Pilates in comparison to other forms of exercise, Karachiwala said: “Pilates helps strengthen the core and works the body from the inside out. It helps prevent injuries. I suggest doing it along with any other exercise and see how it makes you perform that exercise even better.”

Of course, working with the stars doesn’t come without hurdles. So what have been the biggest challenges she’s faced? “I think to achieve different looks for a specific role is always a good challenge as if giving us an end goal. Challenges are good as it keeps you and your client motivated,” she said, adding that “All my clients work extremely hard. It’s not easy with their schedules but they are all dedicated to their workouts and I’m proud of them.”

Throwing some light on the diet angle of it all, Karachiwala shunned the practice of indulging in supplements. “I don’t believe in supplements as such I think naturally. If we eat healthy, our body can get most of its nutrients. Of course, sometimes vegetarians have a problem with protein so then a plant based protein shake is what I would suggest.”

With almost two decades in the industry, Karachiwala’s star-studded clientele boasts of names like Sonakshi Sinha, Malaika Arora Khan, Zareen Khan, and more. And given the seen and proven results of her work and pilates, that list is bound to only grow further in the coming years.
