Celebrating Chef’s Basket Hummus Festival At Mockingbird Café In Mumbai

on

Early this month, we told you that Chef’s Basket tied up with Zomato to put together India’s first Hummus Festival. Yesterday, the festival kicked off with a collection of top Mediterranean restaurants in Mumbai introducing specially curated menus featuring Chef’s Basket Fresh hummus.

The Players

In September, Chef’s Basket, which is known for its readymade meal boxes, launched a sub-brand; Fresh. This brand includes hummus in a variety of international flavours and salsa dips in flavours like pineapple and kiwi apple.

In order to introduce consumers across the city to the Fresh brand, as well as to educate them on the health benefits and versatility of humus in general, Chef’s Basket worked with Zomato – India’s leading restaurant discovery platform – and top restaurants in Mumbai to create the Hummus Festival.

From November 24thto November 27th, restaurants including The Little Door Cafe, Cafe Terra, WTF, The Treesome Cafe, Global Chaos, Zoo Bar, Mockingbird Cafe, The Bar Terminal, Medditerra and Papa Cream will be serving special hummus based dishes.

Tasting The Talk At Mockingbird Cafe

Of course, we’re never only about the talk. We stepped into Mockingbird Cafe last night to sample the dishes they had on offer as a part of the festival. On Mocking Bird Cafe’s menu was a Mexican Hummus Salad, a Hummus Platter and Thai Hummus with Focaccia.

We began by trying the Hummus With Focaccia, which arrived at our table prettily plated; a generous amount of lime green hummus was at the center and surronded with thick slices of Focaccia. While the Foccacia itself was delicious; warm, crusty, the star of the dish was the hummus. Zesty and vibrant, it lived up to its name (Thai Garden Hummus) by literally being a garden of Thai flavours.

We also tried the Hummus Platter which featured three bowls filled with Garlic, Roasted Bell Pepper and Basil Pepper hummus along with thin slices of flatbread to dip into them. We loved the seed encrusted flatbreads paired with the garlic hummus which blended together clean, simple flavours. For a more adventurous palate, chow down on the Basil Pesto Hummus which had punchy, vibrant flavours.

The icing on the cake (or the hummus on the cracker) for the festival is that after you’re done enjoying the dishes that the chefs have prepared, the restaurant will send you home with samples of Fresh hummus as well as a recipe book to allow you to recreate the dishes at home.

Sounds absolutely delicious, right? Head to any of the restaurants we’ve mentioned to infinite your love for hummus. You can thank us later.
