Cap’n Crunch Cereal Will Have You In Splits With This New Morning Show

on

Cap’n Crunch, the iconic cereal brand manufactured by Quaker Oats Company, has tapped into their humorous side by spearheading a new parody ‘morning’ show. The six episode series has roped Ben Schwartz (of Parks and Recreation fame) and Lauren Lapkus (Orange Is The New Black) in as its stars.

Fun For The Millennials

While Cap’n Crunch is primarily viewed as a kid’s breakfast cereal it’s also popular with millennial males who snack on it while surfing the net, playing video games and watching the tube. Considering that millennials’ favourite time to relax is the middle of the night, the show airs at that time.

To create the show, Quaker worked with Funny or Die for a year. Ironically called ‘The Earliest Show’, it focuses on a a TV host who goes through a break up on air. It will also have celebrity guests like Reggie Miller, Reggiee Watts and Pedro Pascal.

“As we started looking at who talks about our brand, and who really shows that love for our brand, it was these millennial males,” Jessica Spaulding, the marketing director at the cereal’s parent company Quaker told Adweek. “They are a primary consumer of our cereal. And when we looked at how they were consuming it, and how they were talking about the product, it wasn’t the typical ‘around the breakfast table in the morning.’ It was on the go, it was at night, it was while playing video games. It’s really a part of their experience. From a media standpoint, we need to be part of that experience versus interrupting it.”
