on

If you’re a Breaking Bad fan living in the Tri-state area, we’ve got some good news for you. You may want to make a few trips to Brooklyn for this because a Breaking Bad-themed coffee shop has just popped up in the Bushwick neighbourhood.

After Golden Girls, Harry Potter and a number of other famous movies and TV series inspiring cafés and restaurants all across the world, the latest to join the party is Breaking Bad. The dark crime drama inspired a café called ‘Walter’s Coffee Roastery’ in Istanbul last and now its owner, Deniz Kosan, has opened an outlet in Bushwick, Brooklyn as well.

“Founded in Istanbul, Walter’s Coffee Roastery is the first coffee laboratory, specializing in daily roasted coffee. We respect coffee and its chemistry. From extraction and brew temperatures to espresso machine pressure and grinder configuration, we have coffee down to a science”, reads the coffee shop’s website.

Aired first in 2008, Breaking Bad instantly got viewers across the globe hooked on to Walter White (played by Bryan Cranston) and his partner Jesse (played by Aaron Paul) making their way through a twisted meth-making business. The show lasted five seasons, with the last one airing in 2013. But the re-runs are endless and the fan following immense.

The shop features iconic elements from the television drama like menus formatted like the periodic table, coffee served out of glass funnels into beakers, and servers donning the yellow hazmat suit serving up some highly caffeinated concoctions.

Although, Kosan argues that the roastery “isn’t a theme park, but a unique coffee shop with just hints of the TV show”, the café is perfect for all Breaking Bad fanatics who want to step into Walter’s world but only experience the best of it. Because truth be told, copying Walter’s world down to every inch is as difficult as it is twisted.
