You Better Believe It, PETA Says Beer Is Better For You Than Milk

You’re not imagining that headline, we’re serious about this. As is PETA. So serious that they sponsored a billboard in Madison, Wisconsin that says “It’s official: Beer is better for you than milk”.

This poster lists all the great things that beer does for the human body, to counter the so-called benefits of milk. What are these benefits, you ask? Strengthening bones and aiding longevity. And as for milk, it is linked to obesity, diabetes, and cancer. They even ended the poster by adding “Drink responsibly: don’t drink milk”.

You Better Believe It, PETA Says Beer Is Better For You Than Milk

Soon after the poster went up, PETA Executive VP Tracy Reiman said in a blogpost by the company that, “alcohol in moderation can be good for you, but there’s no way to consume dairy foods responsibly when they harm our health and cause billions of cows to suffer”.

It’s our responsibility to teach the new generation about the dairy industry. We’re in the role of showing this new generation what’s going on behind the scenes in the dairy industry, how that milk comes to get into a glass and all the cruelty that’s associated with it,” said Daniel Carron from PETA.

The blogpost also adds that the consumption of milk causes animal suffering on a massive scale when calves are separated from their mothers, which causes distress to both.

While this might make some people happy, it’s also a known fact that PETA has made lots of comments like this before. We’ve all been told that milk is great for us and everyone likes beer, so the key here is that everything in moderation is good for the soul. And even take everything PETA says with a pinch of salt, do your own research and more importantly, make your own decisions.

Cow’s milk is HORRIBLE for you unless you’re a baby calf. Cow’s milk is designed to suit the nutritional needs of calves who gain hundreds of pounds in months, and it is a high-calorie drink choice. Additionally, milk leeches calcium from human bones. Animal proteins produce acids when they are broken down that our bodies buffer with calcium before they are eliminated. In the case of milk, it takes all the calcium the milk contains, plus more from our own stores. Leafy greens, oatmeal, and other plants are a much better way of getting calcium.

Beer is always a better choice anyway!

    Cheers indeed, Lucy!

I’ve never heard of vegan beer, but that sounds like a good alternative to milk. As does soy and almond milk.

Beer may give you a buzz and make you drunk-call your ex, but drinking dairy, which is loaded with fat and cholesterol, has been linked to everything from acne to prostate cancer. A hang-over and an apology over the possibility of a lifetime of diseases? I’m going with the beer.

Cheers to that! Drinking cow’s milk not only involves terrible cruelty (repeated forced impregnation and calves stolen from mothers within a day of birth to be sent to veal farms, etc.) it’s horrible for human health. The only animal that’s meant to drink cow’s milk is a calf.

I’d choose vegan beer over milk any day. But dairy-free milks are an even better choice. They’re kinder and healthier. Most dairy-free milks contain calcium, iron, fiber, potassium, and other essential nutrients—but not the cholesterol or excess fat or sodium found in cow’s milk. I like Silk soy and almond milk, and the Whole Foods 365 brand is tasty and affordable too. PETA is simply urging everyone to make healthy and humane choices! PETA is not only competing for press with celebrities and athletes, it’s competing with trump and Clinton. Sensational ads make a huge difference and get attention for important animal issues
