Benjarong To Host The Loi Krathong Festival- Get Ready For An Amazing Experience And Delicious Food

on

Benjarong, a prominent Thai restaurant in Chennai, hosts the Loi Krathong festival at its outlet on TTK from 2nd November until 30th November. The festival is celebrated annually across the southwestern region of Thailand on the full moon day in November and brings people together as they make a wish for a better future. The Loi Krathong festival at Benjarong will feature a menu with a number of vegetarian and non-vegetarian delicacies that are traditionally served during the festival in Thailand.

THE FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS

Loi Krathong takes its name from the words ‘Loi’ meaning float and ‘krathong’ meaning small baskets or rafts. These are made from banana leaves and contain incense, lotus flowers and candles which are lit and set to float in water after making a wish. This is the belief that the krathongs carry away bad luck and signal a fresh start.

Some of the highlight dishes in the festival menu include- Tung Tong – Golden pouches with water chestnuts and minced vegetables, served with sweet chilli sauce;  Goong pakchi lae prik – Grilled prawns with chilli coriander marinade, rolled over on zucchini; Ayutthaya Boat Noodles soup phak – Flat noodles in a spicy tom yum (Ayutthaya style) topped with veg or grilled chicken breast and chicken dumplings and wontons; Khao pahd keow wahn – Green curry fried rice with choice of veg or non veg (topped with fried egg) and more.

Speaking about the festival earlier Mr Reynold Fernandes, CEO Oriental Cuisines, said, “We are delighted to host yet another year of the Loi Krathong festival. This is a special festival that marks the end of a good year and the beginning of new, hopeful year. To make the experience really special we will have krathongs that our guests will be able to set afloat after making their wish. We have crafted a limited, distinctive menu that celebrates the spirit of the Loi Krathong festival in all its authenticity”.
