Started in Chennai by chef duo Goutham Balasubramanian and Balaji Balachander, SALT is changing the face of Indian food, but introducing foodies to more than just the staple rice and curry. Considered “Indian soul food”, the restaurant was first launched in Chennai late in 2015, and now they have a Bangalore outlet.
Their menu features a host of dishes that sound familiar, because it’s a twist on what you already know, giving the food an interesting new face. Everything from salads to grills to Dum Biryani and South Indian curries is on the menu. Look out for signature dishes like Olive Masala Paniyaram, Fish Wada, Figs Stuffed Paneer Tikka , Saffron Chicken Malai Tikka and the “CCC” Chennai Chicken Curry.
And just like the Chennai outlet, SALT in Bengaluru offers their signature Bento Box. Offered only at lunch, the box comes with chefs daily special combination of either two vegetarian dishes or meat/seafood dishes in a box accompanied by soup, salad, daal, tandoori bread, rice, curd, pappad and even dessert.
