Ban On Import Of Vegetables From Kerala Lifted By Qatar

The ministry of public health of Qatar has lifted the ban of importing fruits and vegetables from Kerala reports F&B News. The ban was imposed in the month of May due to the breakout of Nipah virus (NiV).

Lifting Ban On Imports

The report further says that as soon as the decision was made, India’s Export Inspection Council was notified by Qatar’s public health ministry in a letter saying that import of fresh, chilled and frozen vegetables and fruits can now be imported from Kerala. “After examining, following up and verifying the stability of the epidemiological situation based on official health reports, the Joint Committee on Human Food Control has decided to lift the ban due to the disappearance of the virus and permit the import,” Wasan Abdullah Al Baker of the ministry of public health of Qatar said in the letter.
