A Bag of Peanuts Was Recalled For Containing…… Peanuts

on

Bizarre things happen around the world every single day. Whether it’s the invention of a new food trend that looks amazing and probably tastes disgusting, or a celebrity making something really common incredibly popular, we are constantly falling into a trap of bizarre stories related to food.

Very often, food is recalled because of potential salmonella or listeria, or even because there was accidental traces of peanut oil in something that is usually free of peanut. Almost 90% of food allergies are caused by nuts and about 0.6% – 1% of that is caused by peanuts. So it’s understandable that something would be called back due to peanuts being found in the bag.

But what about a bag of peanuts being recalled for having peanuts? Or a fruit yogurt being recalled for having dairy?

According to the Evening Telegraph, the reason for the products being called back is because the ingredients were not listed in English and confused shoppers. The Food Standards Agency said in a press release, “Lidl is recalling Milbona Fruit Yogurt because it contains milk which is not mentioned in English on the label. This makes the product a possible health risk to anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or its constituents. Lidl is also recalling Alesto Honey Peanuts because peanut is not mentioned in English on the label. This makes the product a possible health risk to anyone with an allergy to peanut.”

What might be next – a bar of chocolate for having cocoa in it?
