on

German equipment and process technology provider, GEA Group, announced on Tuesday that it will be teaming up with AmulFed Dairy, a unit of Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) to construct a AmulFed Dairy, a unit of Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF). This further takes up AmulFed’s milk powder plant count to three, with two already being supplied by GEA in the vicinity.

With a production capacity of 150 tonne per day of skim milk powder and 120 tonne per day of dairy whitener and baby food, the unit will be the biggest ever built in Asia and also the most eco-friendly. The production facility will target processing up to 90,000 litres of milk, which will in turn be used to produce various value-added products, reports Economic Times.

“We will provide AmulFed with a hygienically-superior plant that will deliver peak performance. The AmulFed milk powder plant at Gandhinagar will not be just the largest in Asia but it will also be the most environment friendly,” said GEA Country Managing Director, India Cluster, Abhay Chaudhari.

Speaking about the finances, GEA said in a statement that the deal is worth ‘lower double-digit million-Euro’ (so we’re guessing a lot of Euros). Production at the plant is scheduled to begin in 2018.
