Anushka Shetty, a.k.a., Devasena Outs Her Diet & Fitness Secrets From Bahubali 2

Being linked to the Bahubali franchise is no cakewalk, especially if you’re part of the ensemble cast. Something actors Prabhas and Rana Daggubati have proved with their rigorous diets and workout regimes (Clearly it’s not easy being big enough to move shiva lingas and fight wild bulls!). In fact, even actress Tamannaah has been known and lauded for her tough yet flawless physique in the movie. Joining her co-stars, actress Anushka Shetty, who plays the role of Devasena, too shares some of her diet and exercise secrets.

No, it does not involve standing in the sun with shackles on her hands and feet.

Shetty’s journey from a shackle-bound tormented captive in Bahubali: The Beginning to a glamorous jewelry –clad princess flaunting some major royal sass in Bahubali: The Conclusion hasn’t been without a rigorous fitness regime. Here’s all the sweat and blood that went into perfecting the look of a warrior princess and queen.

Food

In contrast to her haggard look in the first part, Shetty’s character flaunts a youthful and dainty yet solid form in the sequel. Apart from training herself in archery, horse riding and sword fighting, the actress went through a rigorous weight loss regime during which she kept track of what and when she ate. But shouldn’t have been a task, considering Anushka is known to be very disciplined when it comes to eating habits.

The Lingaa actress avoids unhealthy, junk food, and eats only fresh fruits and vegetables. She also drinks a lot of water, which does not only keep her hydrated but is also the reason behind her gorgeous skin. She drinks up to 6 litres of water every day! Apart from eating (and drinking) right, the actress made sure that she ate at the right time as well. Starting her day on a sweet note with some honey, Shetty makes it a point to have her dinner by eight, and does not snack on anything else two or three hours before hitting the bed.

Overall, Anushka revamped her diet from a high carb diet (for her role in Size-zero) she came down to a minimal carb and high protein diet. Her strict dietary routine also included steering clear of oil and calorie-rich foods and instead consuming around 5-6 small meals every day. Additionally, her meals included healthy doses of dry fruits with fresh fruit juice, salads, sprouts, soups and veggies to sculpt herself as the agile warrior princess.

Exercise

Shetty teamed her clean eating habits with a regular workout regime that included yoga, a practice the actress swears by and holds as the prime reason that has kept her lean and fit over the years in the movie business. For her role in the Bahubali sequel, the actress was put on 45-minute specialized workout routine at the gym. And in addition to that, she stayed true to30 minutes of light exercises every day.
