It was Day 4 of the Cannes Film Festival and every one gushing over all the couture sprawled across the red carpet when Aishwarya Rai Bachchan came gliding in with lilac lipstick painted on. No big deal. Except that it was. Paparazzi, the fashion fraternity, fans and most of the entire Internet went bananas blueberries!
Ever since, social media has been overwhelmed with innumerable memes, jokes and even ‘you go girl’ posts. And just when we thought every one was done taking a jibe, Indian Dairy Cooperative Amul’s Butter, which is known for humorous current affairs-based ads and posters, decided to finally address the purple elephant in the rooms.
The company came up with a pun filled ad. The commercial features an animated Ash putting on the popular purple shade with the chubby Amul girl sitting next to her putting butter on her lips. Because, “What’s ‘honth’ what not! Amul You Cannes have it daily”. Yep, that’s what the caption reads, referring to the popular ‘What’s hot, what’s not’ trend.
Pretty neat, eh?
