Amul Raises Milk Prices By Rs.2 In Gujarat And Maharashtra

on

The Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), which produces the Amul brand of milk has announced that it will be raising its milk prices by Rs.2 per litre. This raise will be across all of Amul’s milk brands.

Raising Prices

“With this, the Amul Gold milk will now be available for Rs 52 per litre, Shakti for Rs 48, Taza for Rs 40, Slim and Trim for Rs 38, Tea Special for Rs 48 and Cow Milk for Rs 44 per litre,” said Dr K Rathnam, Managing Director of Kheda District Cooperative Milk Producers Union Ltd.

The new prices have already come into effect in Anana, Ahmedabad, Saurashtra, Mumbai and Pune.

Amul is arguing that the rise in prices is necessary as the company is paying more in milk procurement to farmers. This is being caused by an increase in the price for cattle fodder.
