Breath-taking Rooftop Lounge & Marvellous Dining Experience At Asilo

on

Asilo is an open air lounge at the St. Regis Mumbai and offers spectacular views of the city’s skyline. We were mesmerised at the gorgeous décor complete with fairy lights while lounging on the white, comfortable couches that transported us from a noisy city to a state of zen within minutes. Here’s our experience at Asilo.

The Food

The friendly staff at Asilo had us on a rollercoaster of flavours as we went through a four course meal a day before Christmas Eve. The special menu was crafted carefully keeping in mind the holiday season and winters. We dug into flat breads one made with shredded chicken, pesto, cheese and glossy bell peppers and the other a complete vegetarian one with sautéed vegetables like mushrooms, broccoli and olives. Both were absolutely exquisite, tasty and set the tone for the evening. Our favourite out of the two was the mushroom flatbread.

The second appetizer was melt-in-the-mouth, flavourful potato bomb served with sour cream. It was a kick-ass dish and a perfect amuse bouche! Next we binged on the shrimp cocktail which was crisp and crunchy plus the batter was not on the oily side which we just loved. Next we were presented with a platter of vegetarian appetizers to try. The marinated paneer was to die for and the Indian-Chinese style sauce it was dipped in was genius. We truly enjoyed the second round of potato bombs and stir fired vegetables as well but the paneer dish took all the merits.

For the main course we were served a creamy mushroom risotto with parmesan shavings and a seafood paella. The risotto was heart-warming and truly a comfort dish that you can enjoy on one of those cold nights in Mumbai. The paella was full of myriad seafood including shrimps, lobster and even mussels which were a delight to savour. The lobster was cooked exceptionally well and we thoroughly enjoyed the smoky flavours.

Last but definitely not the least we dug our spoons greedily into the Tiramisu. Sure, we were full but the charm of this traditional Italian dessert cannot keep us away. It was a tad on the sweeter edge but delicious all the same and we wiped the bowl clean. Our experience at Asilo was amazing and we feel that you should definitely come down here with your date or even your friends and have a gala time gazing at the beautiful view and savouring great food.
