9 Sorbets That Will Get You Through The Weekend No Matter The Weather

on

Lots of people confuse sorbets and ice cream, but the only thing they really have in common is the fact that they’re both cold and can be eaten with toppings of all kinds. Sorbets (also sometimes known as “sherbet” in some parts of the world) is is a frozen dessert made from sweetened water with flavouring. The flavouring can be anything from fruit juice to puree, wine or liqueur or whatever else floats your boat. It’s a frozen dessert in every sense of the word and should be eaten as soon as it is served. Cold and chilly, it’s the perfect dessert for the summer.

Most of these recipes will require a sugar syrup which can be made by boiling equal parts sugar and water till the sugar is dissolved and let the whole thing cool. And you can also make any fruit sorbet you please using the same recipe. The easiest way to make sorbet is to chop up your fruit and freeze it for a few hours. Then take the frozen fruit out and add it to a food processor or blender and mix it all up. Then mix that with the sugar syrup and you can either freeze it again or serve right away. But freezing it again will guarantee that it will stay cold!

You can also add milk of your choice if you want the sorbet slightly creamier and having an ice cream consistency.

And making sorbets are easier than you’d think and we’ve got a bunch of easy sorbet recipes that you can make at home this long weekend!

You’ll need to whisk it every now and then to get rid of the ice crystals, but once it’s scoopable, you can stop and serve as you please.
