If you had to pick a starch that you’d be happy eating for the rest of your life, it would always be potato. If it’s not, then this list might change your mind. You can do almost anything with potatoes, whether it’s a soup or a salad or a casserole, potatoes can be made in any way you please. Plus, potatoes are one of the few things that you can eat at breakfast and not have to explain yourself. We love our potatoes, because who doesn’t like French Fries?

So, for those who do and don’t like all the wonderful things you can do with potatoes, here are a few dish suggestions.

Besides French Fries, the other most popular potato preparation that you can eat with your burgers and sandwiches are potato wedges. The great thing about wedges is that the potatoes can be cut in any shape you want. Unlike French Fries, it doesn’t have to be finely sliced before you deep fry it. So go forth and make yourself a batch.

The perfect breakfast combination. Cut the potatoes finely and then soak it in water for a bit before you make little cutlet like shapes – or any shape really – and then deep fry it. And serve with eggs, toast and bacon.

Bake the potatoes and once cooled, cut them down the middle and scoop out some portion of the inside and set aside. Then brush the potatoes with butter and broil for a few minutes so that it gets a little crispy. Once you take it out, add cheese and bacon and stick it back in the oven. Then add sour cream and spring onions and it’s done.

If you’re looking for a healthier alternative to eating French Fries, there’s always a version that doesn’t require deep frying. Slice your potatoes into fries and then add into a bowl with 2 tablespoons of oil and 1 tablespoon of seasoning (chilli powder, salt, cumin, dried basil and pepper) and toss it all together. Line the baking tray with the potatoes and bake for 30 minutes, flip them over to evenly bake till they’re all crisp and serve with more seasoning and cheese, if you desire!

Follow your mash potato process and add it to a bowl with sour cream, butter, milk, salt, pepper, bouillon, garlic salt and garlic powder and mix it all up. Stir in Parmesan and cheddar and some bacon. Spread into a baking dish and bake for 25 minutes. When done, add the rest of the cheddar and bacon and bacon for 5 more minutes and serve.

Once you’ve baked the potatoes, put them all into a bowl and mix it up with oil. Toss it with seasoning, garlic, salt, pepper and Parmesan. Add this into baking dish, top with more cheese and some oil and bake for 30 minutes, then toss. If it needs to be roasted some more, let it bake for another 30 minutes and then serve.

This is a little more complicated, but totally worth it. Add onion to an oiled pan and stir occassionally till soft, sprinkle flour over the onion and stir till combined. Stir in chicken stock and then when combined, add milk, potatoes and cooked bacon bits until it’s all combined. Simmer for a few minutes till the potatoes are soft and then add in cheese and yogurt and salt and pepper for taste and you’re ready to serve.

So many parties and gatherings have featured potato salads and that’s because it’s an easy dish to make. Boil the potatoes with the skin on, then peel the skin off and cut into diced pieces and put them in a bowl and sprinkle with vinegar and mix it all up. Add celery and onions and add the hard boiled eggs. Depending on what you prefer, add mayo or anything else, then mix it all up, add salt and pepper and you’re set.

Cut your potatoes and then bake them. While you’re baking them, work on the dressing by mixing up sour cream, milk and Ranch dressing and then spread it out so that you can add the potatoes in. Add your toppings, including the cheese and stick it back in the oven for a few minutes just to get the cheese to melt and you’re set to get your fingers messy!
