For those that don’t know, overnight oats are just oats that are soaked overnight so that it absorbs the liquid that you put them in. Which means that they can be soaked in almost anything, it can be either milk or yogurt or a combination of the two. But remember that it needs to be equal parts of everything. So if you’re using one cup of oats, then you have to use one cup of milk/yogurt. Then mix any sweeteners of dried fruits you want to the mix. Store this in a sealed container of any kind and let it soak for a minimum of three hours. And keeping them overnight just increases the chances of it soaking up all the liquid fully by the time you’re ready to eat it.
And when you wake up in the morning, you can just add fresh fruits, toppings and whatever other flavours you wish to complete the whole thing. It’s really simple and not at all complicated. Once you’ve got the base mixture down, then you can add whatever and do anything you wish with the oats.
Banana, honey and almonds
Slice the bananas, and the almonds and along with the honey, mix it into the oats with milk and yogurt. Stir it up nicely and then seal it. When you open it in the morning, add a few more slices of banana and sprinkle some honey over it and you’re done.
Blueberry and almonds
Add the sliced almonds into the oats and dairy mixture and keep it sealed for the night. In the morning, pour some freshly picked and washed blueberries over the oats and sprinkle some more almonds and serve.
Apple and cinnamon
It’s always nice to add a little honey to the oats and dairy mixture, but don’t add too much. You can also add some cinnamon before you seal it overnight and then add some sliced apple and add some more cinnamon before you eat.
Banana and kiwi
Add some sliced bananas to the oats mixture and seal it. In the morning, mix it up a little and add kiwi slices before you dig in.
Banana chocolate chip
Mix the chocolate chips in with the mixture and then when you open it up in the morning, cut the bananas to the top and top it off with more chocolate chips!
Coconut and mango
Don’t scrunch up your face, this is a combination that will blow your mind. Grate the coconut and add it to the mixture, you can also beat a portion mango to a pulp and add in as well. Then on top, add more coconut shavings and mango pieces and enjoy!
Peanut butter and banana
This is a delicious and popular combination, so obviously it would work really well with oats as well. Mix in some peanut butter with the mixture, then at the time of eating, top it off with banana slices and some more peanut butter.
Chocolate and almonds
Melt some of the chocolate and mix it up with the oats, then keep it sealed and when you’re ready to eat it, top it off with pieces of chocolate and shaved almonds and it’s ready to be devoured.
