St. Patrick’s Day is just around the corner folks. It’s a day to commemorate Saint Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland and also the introduction of Christianity in Ireland. For one day, everybody leaves the restrictions (the rules of eating and alcohol for those who fast before Easter) aside and celebrates. These celebrations of course include drinks, shamrocks and the colour green! Now it’s the holiday that has made green drinks popular. Normally you’d be squeamish if you’d have a green beer placed in front of you, but it’s no fun if you don’t sport a green drink in your hand on St. Patty’s Day.
1. Green Apple Cocktail
Ingredients – Irish whiskey, Apple schnapps
Green apple sour and a whiskey to boot, and so begins the party!
2. Green Midori
Ingredients – Chartreuse, midori, egg foam, Vodka or Irish whiskey
I’d go whiskey for this one. Nothing, I mean it, nothing beats a whiskey.
3. Sparkling Shamrock
Ingredients – pear vodka, mint, lemonade and soda
It’s green and it sparkles. Would never have said that if not for the sparkling green drink.
4. Leprechaun Leap
Ingredients – Kiwi juice, Ginger, Vodka, egg foam
Well if the Kiwi’s sweetness doesn’t then the ginger will make you leap green!
Ingredients – tequila, melon liqueur and orange juice
It’s a mean, green tequila. If you know what I mean!
6. Green Beer
Ingredients – Beer and blue curacao
Because how can we leave beer out? We wouldn’t be partying all night if not for the beer.
Psst… The green colour comes from these ingredients – Green Chartreuse, Green Crème de Menthe, and Midori Melon Liqueur. You do the math now.
