5 Tips To Improve Your Work Eating Habits

on

Eating right at work is essential in keeping your productivity up during those down hours of the work day. Eating the right food at the right time and replenishing the nutrients in your body actually helps in improving your performance at work.

Here are a few ways to improve your eating habits at work and be as productive as you can be.

1. Don’t Skip Breakfast!

They don’t call it the most important meal of the day for nothing. Having a proper (not heavy) breakfast will improve your memory and boost your energy to tackle your work the entire day. It also helps in improving concentration and short-term memory. Having breakfast items like eggs, oatmeal, fruit and yoghurt helps in keeping your blood sugar levels steady leading to improved cognitive function. The best way to make sure you don’t skip breakfast is to keep a box of cereal or oats in your company’s kitchen. Most companies have a fridge and you can store milk and other breakfast items for a quick boost to your work day.

2. Munchies On Your Desk

Keep a bag of healthy snack items on your desk. Since the gap between lunch and dinner is quite long, make sure to snack on a few items during the 4pm hour. Small packets of nuts or biscuits will be helpful to get rid of that evening slumber.

3. Coffee Could Actually Be Bad

Coffee is the go-to means of waking yourself up early in the morning so you can get your work going. Did you also know that overdosing on coffee throughout your day can actually lead to fatigue and a distinct feeling of exhaustion. Morning coffee is fine but substitute your afternoon and evening coffee with a much healthier green or herbal tea.

4. Eat The Right Kind Of Food

Eating the right kind of food during your lunch break will decide whether you will be productive for the rest of the working day or not. Even if you are too busy during your lunch hour, make sure to get a proper dose of the following food items to keep your working day going along smoothly.

5. Hyderate!

Many people don’t know the difference between hunger and thirst. When you are feeling hungry, try drinking a glass of water. It may help curb your “hunger” pangs and help you not overeat during work hours.
